The article examines current problems related to the illegal circulation of counterfeit alcoholic beverages in Ukraine, its impact on public health and the financial and economic system of the state. The authors emphasize that despite effective control in the pharmaceutical sector, which is provided by the State Service for Medicines and the State Pharmacopoeia of Ukraine, cases of counterfeiting continue to occur on the alcoholic beverage market. This leads to an increase in the number of poisonings, including fatal ones, especially among people of working age. The materials of criminal proceedings are analyzed, which indicate the large-scale activity of organized criminal groups in several regions of the country. Deficiencies in documenting facts of harm to the health and life of citizens, as well as an insufficient level of legal assessment of the inaction of owners of retail outlets and government officials, are noted. Special attention is paid to the need to improve criminal legislation, in particular Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and to the introduction of an interdisciplinary approach to the treatment of persons affected by the consumption of adulterated alcohol. The article substantiates the need for reforms in the fields of health care, forensic medicine, pharmacy, and law.
